Danielle Lyndsay / Trybe Dance Collective
Danielle Lyndsay Ward, creatively known as Danielle Lyndsay, is a native of Clinton, MD. Over the 25 years of her dance career, Danielle has extensively trained in classical ballet, contemporary jazz, musical theater, modern, Hip Hop, West African dance and gymnastics. An alumnae of Bishop McNamara High School, she concentrated in lyrical jazz and West African dance. While there, she also became a student choreographer, playing vital artistic roles in her Junior and Senior festivals, being named Dancer of the Year by the American Dance Association upon graduation and inducted as a senior member of the Sankofa West African Dance Troupe.
Danielle attended Frostburg State University (MD), majoring in psychology and minoring in dance. As a member of the FSU Dance Company, Danielle was a student choreographer for four years, and is a founding member and former choreographer for the FSU Epitome Hip Hop Dance Team. Danielle is a graduate of the prestigious Broadway Dance Center internship program (New York, NY). Concentrating in contemporary jazz and hip hop, she trained under some of the industry's top choreographers including Brice Mousset, Slam, Luam, Rhapsody James and Sheryl Murakami. While at BDC, Danielle set and performed her original choreography for the BDC winter and spring showcases.
After college Danielle returned to her alma mater, Bishop McNamara to join the Fine Arts Department as a teacher and choreographer in the Classical Dance Program. While there, she also coached the Varsity Dance Team for two years, leading them to both UDA & MAPDA Championships in her final year. Since then, Danielle has taught at the National High School Dance Festival at Point Park University (PA), where her choreography was also selected to be showcased, the Joffrey Ballet Jazz & Contemporary Program (NY) under the direction of Michael Blake, and set pieces for various high school dance teams and programs in the D.C. Metropolitan area. Students under Danielle’s tutelage have signed contracts and maintained dance careers with major agencies such as BLOC (GA and CA), Clear Talent (NY), MSA (NY), and Go2Talent (CA), danced with companies and brands such as the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders and the Washington Wizards Dancers, attended and graduated from collegiate dance programs at colleges such as The University of Maryland, Towson University, The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and University of the Arts. Danielle also specializes in Active Isolated Flexibility, Stretching & Alignment for Athletes, working with gymnasts, basketball and football players in introducing and maintaining key exercises in cross conditioning.
Danielle was a member of the DanceMakers Inc (MD) creative team from 2012-2020 as the Competitive Troupe Rehearsal Director and as the Lead Jazz and Lyrical Choreographer. Her choreography over the years received countless entertainment, choreography, and title awards on both the regional and national levels. Her choreography at DanceMakers was also featured in campaigns for Rap Snacks, Russian Pointe Ballet Shoes, and in Dance Spirit Magazine. During her time there, she also took on the role of Co-Competition Coordinator, maintaining the studio’s relationships with competition brands, acting as on site liaison, and assisting in communications between parents and the studio.
The Trybe Dance Collective serves as a safe space where emerging fine artists and choreographers can explore and hone their crafts, while nurturing their love for dance. Through personalized training, dedicated instruction and a holistic curriculum, the Teaching Artists of The Trybe Dance Collective aim to guide and challenge creatives while molding them into breakthrough fine artists.
Dancers who join The Trybe can expect a rigorous, goal specific training program and mentorship with specialized guidance towards a dancer's path.
