Afro-Cuban Modern: This class offers Cuban Folklore Orisha dances which also includes Rumba and Salsa with Modern techniques of Graham and Horton. (Facilitator: Angela Ingram)

Modern Dance: An investigation of movement from the inside out, this class encourages efficient use of alignment and technique while exploring full bodied movement with an emphasis on strength, breath and dynamics. Beginning with a gentle warm-up, we will transition to a choreographed phrase, an opportunity to discover the body’s unique potential and find one’s individual voice. Vogue Dance: Students will explore the five elements of vogue dance (hand Performance, catwalk, duckwalk, floor performance, and spins and dips). Will discuss briefly the history and social impact of ballroom culture and its evolution. Our journey will consist of a street style jazz warm up that will lead into exploring the five elements of vogue dance. We will combine the elements into a class combination that students will perform virtually. (Facilitator: ​R. Lamont Mitchell)

Physical Listening for Dancers: Physical Listening for Dancers is a workshop that teaches the skill of physically deciphering subtle musical nuances, helping the dancer to train the body to “hear.” By the end of the session, the participant will grow a bigger lens into the improvisatory world of music, specifically through the Jazz idiom and gain a better understanding of how to translate active listening into physical listening, while also improving their overall ability to identify phrasing and odd meter rhythms. African Expressions: 
African Expressions is a Modern and West African based movement class that will explore diasporic movement accompanied by diasporic rhythms.  Get fit, lose weight, lower stress, build strength, flexibility, endurance, and stamina. But most importantly Have Fun!!! (Facilitator: Diedre Dawkins)

Contemporary: While working from a strong technical base, the goal of contemporary movement in this class is to create versatility in the dancer by fusing genres and finding real forms of expression. Focuses are on finding/breaking alignments, non-traditional floor-work, musicality, performance qualities and strength/dynamics. The class begins with a technically based warmup that includes strength-building, alignment, and stretching exercises, and culminates in a short choreography that incorporates movement from any number of different styles. Experience in Ballet, Jazz or Modern is recommended. BEHIND THE SCENES of a DANCE FILM: 
​
An introduction to tools which translates skill gained in dance education to the production of dance films.  In this masterclass, participants will watch and discuss dance films from across the globe. Conversations will analyze films from a dancer's lens, and then reverse engineer principles of cinema and filmmaking. Technique will be a topic - for dance, and for storytelling. New filmmakers will hear about tools to explore, gear to try and dance film pre-production practices that genuinely work. Lastly, participants will hear from a festival director, Katie Bruce, and have questions answered. Katie will share a little wisdom about getting your work into film festivals, and what that even means. (Facilitator: Katie Bruce)

Discussions on Anti-racist Practices in Dance and Dance Education: Join SLMDances Artistic Director
Sydnie L. Mosley and SLMDances Creative Partner Jessica Lee. Together we will investigate anti-racist practices in dance and dance education settings, learn strategies for creating dance works that problem-solve social justice issues, and understand practices for facilitating discussions on decolonizing dance and dance education.
